Lauderdale Beach

Lauderdale Beach Council is building on the contribution made by Lauderdale residents during the Tasmanian Coastal Adaptation Pathways Project (TCAP).

Technical advice as part of the TCAP project confirmed that beach nourishment alone would not be viable to protect property at risk. Sand available in sufficient quantity is finer grained, which means that;

There is also significant risk that if nothing is done, Bambra Point would separate from Bambra Reef with accelerated erosion then occurring along the Point properties. This has been recognised in the most recent report from Water Research Laboratories at the University of New South Wales.
