What happens if your pet is found stray?

If your dog is picked up by a ranger and is wearing a current registration tag, our rangers will endeavour to contact you for collection of your dog.  Alternatively, your dog may be returned to your property if appropriate. If we are unable to secure your dog at the property, our ranger will take your dog to the Dogs Home at 101 Scotts Road, Risdon Vale. Your dog will not be released until it is registered, microchipped ,and all associated fees relating to the dog being impounded are paid. An infringement notice may also be issued for a breach of the Dog Control Act 2000. It is important that your dog has a council registration disc attached to their collar. A dog not wearing a registration disc in a public place is regarded as being unregistered under the Dog Control Act 2000 and may be impounded immediately.
