Clarence City Band

The Clarence City Band was formed as an initiative of council in August 1988. It is administered by a committee, which is a special committee of council.

Mission of the Clarence City Band

The Clarence City Band aspires to serve the community by fostering and performing music, providing opportunities for developing and accomplished musicians to participate in a supportive environment, share and advance their skills, and perform at civic and other community events.

About the band

The Clarence City Band is based at the Lindisfarne Community Activities Centre.

The band caters for all tastes and ensembles and provides a development program for members of the community to learn a musical instrument.

The band has grown significantly since 1988 and includes:

Development program

Beginner band (10 years of age and older)

The beginner band offers an opportunity for people to learn an instrument, read music, develop listening skills and experience what it is like to be part of an ensemble.

This is a structured program for levels 2 and 3, and a transition program for players to step into a band that matches the skill level.

Performance ensembles

Performance ensembles are for experienced players and include the Clarence City Concert Band, Big Band, Brass Band or Crosswinds. A number of performance and competition opportunities exist for these bands.

Bookings

The Clarence City Band ensembles can be booked to play at events.

The band also plays at events such as Australia Day on the Bellerive Boardwalk, the Lindisfarne Anzac Day Dawn Service, the Richmond Highland Gathering, as well as various carols services in the community.
