Public Art

We have a number of public artworks on show at locations around the city. These have been developed over time through commissions in association with council developments, community art projects and developer contributions to our public art fund.

We are committed to establishing the arts and cultural identity of the city and in creating an urban environment that reflects pride through the development of public art.

Commission of public art in the city is governed by our Public Art Policy 2013 and Public Art Code within the Clarence Interim Planning Scheme 2015.

Clarence Art Collection

The Clarence Art Collection is a collection of artworks which have been amassed through acquisitions, exhibitions such as the annual Open Art Exhibition, the Clarence Prize, gifts and donations.

The collection was initiated in 1988 as part of our participation in Australia’s Bicentenary and is on display at Council Offices and public areas.
