Grants and Sponsorship

We recognise the significant role community groups, organisations, business and individuals play in realising our vision of ā€œClarenceā€¦ a vibrant, prosperous, sustainable cityā€, and there are a number of ways that we provide support.

We offer a range of grant programs and sponsorship opportunities including:

  • Community grants
  • Cultural and Creative grants
  • Environment and Biodiversity grants
  • Access and Inclusion Activation grants
  • Quick response grants
  • Sponsorship of events and activities

Grants of between $500 to $5,000 or $5,000 to $10,000 are available to eligible registrants for projects that support our objectives in these areas:

  • A connected, resilient and inclusive communities
  • Community engagement and participation
  • Healthy and active living
  • Cultural and creative activities
  • A prosperous and innovative economy
  • Community safety
  • Sustainable practices

Community Grants

These grants aim to support programs and activities that address a specific need, promote resilience, community engagement, connection and participation and/or provide a direct benefit to the community of Clarence.

There is a limit of one application per person/group for each round.

Cultural and Creative Grants

Cultural and Creative Grants support our vision of ā€˜Clarenceā€¦ a gateway to Tasmania Cultureā€™ by supporting programs, events and activities that activate art and cultural pursuits in the community. Individual artists, community groups, and not-for-profit arts organisations can apply.

There is a limit of one application per person/group for each round.

Environment and Biodiversity Grants

The Environment and Biodiversity Grants support the conservation, management and enhancement of natural areas and biodiversity in the City of Clarence each year. These are designed to support local communities and volunteer groups who work in alignment with councilā€™s strategic Reserve Activity Plans.

There is a limit of one application per person/group for each round.

Quick Response Grants

Rare opportunities sometimes deserve special support and for this reason council provides funding through the Quick Response Grant Program for:

  • Youth Assistance – support to participate, compete or officiate at a community, state, national or international level, including sport and youth exchange, conference and forums.
  • General ā€“ Projects/Events/Activities – grants of up to $500 for small projects, activities and events that strengthen neighbourhoods, build community resilience and wellbeing education.

There is a limit of one application per person/group for each round.

Sponsorships

We sponsor events and activities in the city that support the social, cultural, environmental and economic life of the city. Sponsorship can include financial and in-kind support for a diverse range of events and activities held in the city.

Sponsorship can include the following:

  • Financial contribution towards the event or activity
  • Reduced or no cost for the use of a council owned facility/venue
  • In-kind support
  • Use of banner sign poles in Bellerive Village or Rosny Bus Mall (does not include materials, printing, production, installation or dismantling of banners
Eligibility Ineligible activities
  • Event/activity must be held in the City of Clarence
  • Have direct benefit for the community and/or visitors
  • Be not-for-profit
  • Demonstrated need and proposed outcomes
  • Encourages local participation, strengthens social cohesion and accessible
  • Evidence of a realistic budget
  • Acknowledgement of Councilā€™s assistance in any promotional material and publicity for the event
  • Demonstrate that a program of events and activities have been prepared with an appropriate publicity and promotions campaign.
  • Events or activities not held in, or for the benefit of the City of Clarence
  • For-profit organisations, including small businesses and individuals
  • Federal, state and local agencies
  • Private commercial ventures or events that primarily showcase businesses/stall holders to promote or sell services/products. We will provide in-kind support and assistance where wider community benefit is evident.
  • Events or activities that have already received funding from another City of Clarence funding progra
