Major works are currently underway in Bellerive Village to improve stormwater drainage.

State-Wide Earthworks Pty Ltd commenced council’s project to install stormwater and pedestrian infrastructure in the vicinity of the Cambridge Road and Percy Street intersection in early August 2023, with the aim to complete the project prior to December 2023.

The stormwater works are necessary to reduce the risk of inundation of commercial premises near the intersection, while the pedestrian upgrades will improve safety and amenities for pedestrians.

The project will include:

  • A new pipe across Cambridge Road connecting to the existing stormwater pipe in the alleyway between 46 and 48 Cambridge Road (adjacent to Bellerive Quay Pharmacy).
  • A box culvert along Percy Street.
  • Additional inlet pits in Cambridge Road and Percy Street.
  • Two pedestrian crossing facilities (pedestrian outstands and islands) on Cambridge Road either side of Percy Street.
  • A raised threshold providing level access across Percy Street at the Cambridge Road intersection.

While there will be unavoidable impacts on vehicle traffic and parking throughout the construction period, we will ensure pedestrian access will be maintained to all businesses during operating hours. Drivers and pedestrians are, however, instructed to obey all temporary traffic signs.

Additionally, to minimise the impact on local businesses, the works are mainly being undertaken at night (Monday to Thursday).

The installation of additional stormwater drainage infrastructure on Cambridge Road is currently underway. These works have necessitated the temporary removal of some on street parking and the relocation of the pedestrian crossing point to a temporary facility nearby.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the progress of these works.

This page will be updated throughout the project, however for additional information, please contact council’s Project Manager Mark Painter on 6217 9734 or mpainter@ccc.tas.gov.au.
