As part of the Annual Plan and Estimates 2022-23 program, Clarence City Council is installing approximately 1000 parking sensors across Kangaroo Bay, Rosny Park and Bellerive.

The purpose of the sensors is to:

  1. Continue to improve the way we manage vehicle turnover in restricted bays (e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour or two hour), especially vehicles that have overstayed their time limit. This will enable more customers through the door to local businesses.
  2. Provide council with parking data to enhance decisions regarding parking management, including reviewing restriction times, across the city.
  3. Allow council to share real-time parking data, for parking bays with sensors, such as live parking availability and directions to available areas – including accessible parking bays.

It is currently anticipated that the works will commence in late September or early October and take approximately six weeks to complete. Residents and businesses directly impacted by the works will receive a letter with details on the specific timing of works once details are confirmed. This page will also be updated throughout the project.

Please note the area in yellow, in the below map, (Percy Street and Cambridge Road) will not have sensors installed until after the upcoming stormwater works project is complete. Sensors in this area will likely be installed in February 2024 and be operational shortly thereafter.

It is expected that the sensors will not be live until later in the year, allowing for a period of testing and calibration. Council will update this page, nearby residents and businesses when the sensors are due to go live.

Installation will be undertaken outside of business hours. Council will work to ensure minimal disruption to residents and lease owners. Access to properties will be maintained for the duration of the works, but relevant parking bays will be temporarily unavailable during the installation process.
