Service Description

These programs are for Nature Strip maintenance and are aimed at hazard reduction and limited to grass mowing only.

The services do not include vegetation pruning, weed spraying, grass edging or removal of green waste.

Council will cut the grass to a maximum height of 75mm and blow/sweep cuttings off the footpath or road.

Mowing will occur at a time that is most convenient to council based on resource availability.

  • Biannual mowing usually occurs prior to Christmas, with a second cut usually during Autumn.
  • Annual mowing will occur in-line with other council programs, usually during summer.

Biannual Mowing

You must be able to provide evidence that:

  • you are elderly (e.g. over 65 years of age); or
  • incapacitated, such that you are unable to perform nature strip maintenance tasks (e.g. due to an ongoing health condition).

Upon satisfaction of the above essential eligibility criteria, in addition, your property must also

  • be your principal place of residence; and
  • be zoned General Residential within the Planning Scheme; and
  • have a kerb and gutter along the road edge.

Annual Mowing

You must have no continuous means of access to the Nature Strip from your property, and it must be clearly impractical for you to be required to mow this area. For example, you would need to push your lawnmower around several neighbouring houses in order to obtain access to the nature strip at the rear of your property.

NOTE: All applicants must meet and provide evidence to council regarding the Eligibility Criteria.  All applications will be assessed by council’s Manager Environment, Facilities and Recreation, whose decision will be final.
