The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct a planned fuel reduction burn at Meehan Range Nature Recreation Area on Tuesday 20 October 2026, weather permitting.
The burn will cover approximately 134 hectares and is expected to take two to four days to complete. Smoke may linger for several days afterwards, depending on wind conditions.
Public access to the burn area will be restricted during operations and until safety checks have been completed. Visitors are asked to stay well clear of the burn site and follow all signage.
People with medical conditions are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid smoke exposure. For updates and further information, visit the Parks and Wildlife Service planned burns page or current park alerts.
