The centre cricket pitch at North Warrane Oval will be closed for repair works until the end of January.
The pitch appears to have been damaged from bikes being used on synthetic pitch surface – resulting in severe damage, with wear extending through to the concrete base in some areas.
The pitch is now unsafe, unusable and closed until repairs are completed.
What this means
- The synthetic pitch will need to be fully replaced, at an estimated cost of up to between $6,000 and $8,000.
- Repairs are being arranged and are schedule to being on 23 January 2026.
- The pitch is expected to be available for use again from around 31 January 2026. However this is weather dependent.
- Up to six cricket matches per week may be cancelled or relocated during this period
- Training using the nets and outfield is not affected and can continue as normal
We are working with clubs and competition organisers to minimise disruption where possible.
