Hazard reduction burns are scheduled throughout autumn and winter.
Controlled burns like these help to reduce the amount of fuel available for wildfires and are an important component of protecting and enhancing our natural environment, as fire plays a critical role in the life cycle of many native Tasmanian plants.
Some locations we are targeting this season are:
- Single Hill Seven Mile Beach
- Glebe Hill
- Mortimer Bay
- Waverly Flora Park
This work is part of our annual schedule of Bushfire Mitigation strategies and management conducted across the city.
Find out more about a reserve near you on the Bushfire webpage. For safety reasons, hazard burns are only conducted during favorable weather conditions and the time and dates will vary accordingly.
