Graffiti and vandalism can affect the appearance and enjoyment of our public spaces. We work to keep the assets and property managed by us clean, safe and welcoming by responding to reports, repairing damage and removing graffiti.
We also work with other agencies and the community to prevent graffiti and vandalism and improve public spaces.
If you see someone applying graffiti or damaging property, you can report it to Tasmania Police. For non-emergency police assistance, call 131 444 or call Crimestoppers. If there is an immediate danger or emergency, call 000.
If you’d like to report graffiti or vandalism, please report it to the organisation responsible for the property. The information below can help you identify who to contact.

When making a report, please provide the location or street address, a brief description of the graffiti or damage and a photo, if it is safe to take one.

Offensive or discriminatory graffiti
If graffiti is offensive, hateful or discriminatory, please report it to Tasmania Police.
You can also report discriminatory material to the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner.
We may prioritise the removal of offensive or discriminatory graffiti from our managed property.
Graffiti or vandalism on private property
Property owners are responsible for maintaining and repairing their own property, including boundary fences next to public land.
If your property has been affected by graffiti or vandalism, you can report it to Tasmania Police. You may also wish to take photographs before cleaning or repairing the damage, particularly if you need them for insurance purposes.
We may be able to assist with the removal of offensive or discriminatory graffiti in some circumstances.
There are two primary methods to remove graffiti:
- Pressure washing or blasting – This method combines chemical treatment and water to wash graffiti off hard surfaces.
- Paint over the graffiti – Painting a neat rectangular or square shape over graffiti can be effective.
