Help create safe, welcoming spaces where young people can thrive.

As our new Youth Engagement Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering youth led programs across Clarence, including an exciting new pop-up activity zone in the heart of Rosny. This special project, delivered in partnership with Mission Australia Youth Beat and Pulse Youth Health Service, will offer a free after-school space for young people to connect, relax and have their say. You’ll be working directly with local youth to shape the program, support activities, and help make Rosny a place where young people feel heard and supported.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver fun, safe and engaging programs that respond to the needs of young people
  • Build strong partnerships with schools, service providers and community organisations
  • Support young people to access the services they need, including referrals to specialist support
  • Help develop and deliver school-based and outreach programs
  • Consult with young people to identify emerging issues and co-design solutions
  • Promote youth participation in events, spaces and decision-making processes
  • Support the work of the Youth Network Advisory Group
  • Keep accurate records and contribute to program evaluation and reporting

About you

  • Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or similar, or significant relevant experience
  • A solid understanding of the key issues affecting young people today
  • Confident delivering programs and working with diverse groups of young people
  • Able to work collaboratively with schools, families and support services
  • Great communicator organised and proactive.
  • Must hold a National Police Check and Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (non-negotiable and candidate’s responsibility)

What we offer you

  • Base salary between $75,071.65 and $86,731.41 pro rata will be offered (dependent on skills and experience) + superannuation
  • Fixed term (approximately 6 months), part-time (Total 20.25 hours per week)
