We’re looking for a caring and community-minded Cat Management Officer to help promote responsible cat ownership and support positive outcomes for both cats and their communities.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide clear advice to council, breeders, cat owners, and the public on cat management and compliance
  • Represent council at community and stakeholder cat management meetings
  • Undertake key community and stakeholder consultation
  • Support and deliver community education initiatives to reduce cat roaming
  • Undertake patrols in hotspot areas and work with the community to identify and resolve issues early
  • Respond to service requests and complaints with a focus on customer care and clear communication
  • Safely collect and manage lost or stray cats in line with welfare and council procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to cat management programs and investigations

About you

  • Certificate IV in Animal Regulation and Management (or relevant experience/qualification)
  • Strong animal handling skills, particularly with cats, and knowledge of cat behaviour
  • Experience applying legislation and delivering community education
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills
  • Must hold a National Police Check and Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (candidate’s responsibility and must be provided before commencement)
  • Must hold a current drivers’ licence

What we offer you

  • A base salary between $75,071.65 and $86,731.41 (pro-rata), dependent on skills and experience + 12.5% superannuation.
  • Fixed term (12-month contract) and 3 days per week.
