City of Clarence offers a range of beautiful outdoor settings that can be used for ceremonies, including weddings, commitment ceremonies and commemorative events. To help ensure these spaces remain safe, accessible and enjoyable for everyone, approval is required before holding a ceremony on land managed by us.
This page provides information about when approval is needed and application form.
When approval is required
You must apply for approval if you plan to hold a ceremony on council land that:
- Is organised or formal in nature (such as a wedding, vow renewal or memorial service)
- Involves a booking of a specific area or site
- Includes hired equipment (chairs, arches, marquees or sound equipment)
- Requires exclusive or priority use of a public space
Informal gatherings without set-up or equipment generally do not require approval.
Conditions of use
Approved ceremonies must:
- Comply with all conditions
- Keep public access areas clear where possible
- Ensure no damage occurs to lawns, gardens, trees or infrastructure
- Manage noise and activities respectfully
Our land is a shared public space, and exclusive use cannot always be guaranteed.
Fees
A permit fee may apply, depending on the type, size and nature of the ceremony. Any applicable fees will be advised during the assessment process.
