Come and learn about the threats domestic, stray and feral cats pose to human health and the environment, responsible pet ownership, and practical activities that can be undertaken by Landcare groups and individuals to monitor and control feral cat populations in Clarence.
We will be hearing from:
- Landcare Tasmania: on our vision and steps for long-term community driven feral cat management and monitoring, our new Decision Guide for Stray and Feral Cat Management in Tasmania 2025, highlighting what actions local Landcare groups are already undertaking and how you can get involved, and more information on our upcoming action planning session in November
- Gill Basnett – National Feral Cat and Fox Management Coordinator: presenting on the environmental and health impacts of feral cats, and various cat management tools.
- Rudi Brennan – Clarence City Council: presenting the results from the Cats in Clarence Council survey and next steps.
- Noel Hunt – Ten Lives: on the role of Ten Lives as a Registered Cat Management Facility, legalities of trapping cats and what to do when there is one in the cage, experience in supporting and developing Cat Management Areas
