Clarence City Council has several social media accounts which provide information and news to the community.

Social Media Terms of Use

Engagement and communication on social media platforms must always be safe for both community members and council employees/contractors while allowing people to explore ideas and participate in conversations productively and respectfully.

On our social media accounts, we embrace conversation and a diverse range of opinions and values, and in these forums, we ask that users follow the below Terms of Use.

  2. Do not share or post comments that are defamatory, knowingly false, or information that is factually inaccurate which may mislead others.
  3. Respect the privacy of others and yourself by not sharing personal information. Content that violates any obligation of privacy or confidentiality will be removed.
  4. Does not violate the privacy, moral, or any other right of any third party or infringe upon any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or patent of any third party.
  5. Do not post anything that constitutes spam such as advertisements, repetitive or irrelevant comments, or the promotion of products or services not endorsed by Clarence City Council.
  6. Clarence City Council does not accept any responsibility for content published on any third-party sites, social media accounts or pages.
  7. By sharing/posting content (images, comments, links etc) you consent for the content to be retained as a record by the Clarence City Council, as required by the Archives Act 1983 (Tas.) and to be used by council (unless stated otherwise).
  8. Comments from accounts impersonating Clarence City Council, a Clarence City Council Councillor, or any account misrepresenting their identity will be removed.
  9. Clarence City Council may restrict public commenting on any post if council deems it appropriate to do so.

In response to a breach of the Social Media Terms of Use, council may take one or more of the following actions:
