We’ve created a series of access and inclusion videos to help people with disability plan their visits to our facilities before they arrive.
The videos, created with the help of people with lived experience, were delivered in partnership with the Clarence Disability Access and Inclusion Working Group and feature:
They highlight accessibility features at the venues such as disability parking spaces, automatic doors, accessible toilets with braille and tactile signs, and wheelchair accessible barbecues.
They also show how to get to venues, enter buildings, use the facilities, and also provide information about who to contact for further information or to make bookings.
Clarence Disability Access and Inclusion Working Group members Nigel Saville, who uses a wheelchair, and John Stevens, who has a hearing impairment, both feature in the videos.
Members in the group said the videos have provided them with new information about accessibility in Clarence and offered a clearer understanding of a venue’s physical environment to assist planned visits.
The videos are one of the ways we’re working with people with disability to make our services, facilities, and information more accessible and inclusive.
Access and inclusion for people with disability remains a priority, and we will continue to build upon our Access and Inclusion Plan in the years ahead.
