Young people are helping shape future upgrades to a popular community play space in Clarence Plains – the Social Heart Park.
Concept plans for a tween-focused recreation space at the park were developed after speaking with youth at Bayview High School, John Paul II Primary School, and City of Clarence Youth Services in Rokeby as part of our latest community engagement.
We’ve involving local students from the beginning of this project, hoping to create excitement in a space designed for them.
Students told our city officers they would like the upgrade to include things such as social hangout spaces with hammocks, and expressed interest in a multi-sports court, and informal areas where friends can gather and spend time together.
We’re now inviting everyone in Clarendon Vale, Rokeby, and the broader community to have their say on plans for a new multi-sports court at the centrally located space near the Clarendon Vale Neighbourhood Centre.
The concept plans are designed to offer a playful, fun, colourful, social landscape for everyone to enjoy.

Social Heart Park currently offers play equipment, a shelter, sports court, and a skate park, and is located close to the neighbourhood centre, child-care centre, and schools.
The current skate park and sports court are showing serious signs of wear and are close to their end-of-life and will be replaced by a new state-funded multi-sports court, which forms part of a larger revitalisation of the space.
The current play equipment at Social Heart Park, including the shelter and landscaping, are not included in this project.
