We’re thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2027 Clarence Jazz Festival Scholarships.
Three of Tasmania’s most promising young musicians were selected from a strong field of applicants for their musical ability, commitment to jazz, enthusiasm for collaboration, and potential for future development. and include two students from Elizabeth College and one from Rosny College.

- Noah Davies (tenor saxophone, Elizabeth College, Year 12)
- Anders Newbold (double bass, Rosny College, Year 11)
- Avery Adamczewski (saxophones, Elizabeth College, Year 11)
Anders may be a familiar face to Clarence Jazz Festival audiences, performing at our 30th anniversary Clarence Jazz Festival as part of the Clarence High School band SLACqers.
Noah Davies has a keen interest in composition, having recently had one of his pieces performed by the Elizabeth College Stage Band at the Devenport Jazz Festival.
Avery Adamczewski is a keen multi-instrumentalist, specializing in saxophones and other woodwinds, along with piano and composition.
The Clarence Jazz Festival Scholarship Program has been a cornerstone of the festival for more than two decades, providing talented young Tasmanian musicians with mentoring, professional performance opportunities and the chance to work alongside some of the best Australian and international jazz artists.
The program’s impact was on full display at this year’s Clarence Jazz Festival, where former scholarship recipient Finn Rees returned to headline the festival’s biggest day before a record crowd as part of his critically acclaimed band Close Counters.
Now recognised internationally as one of Australia’s most exciting contemporary exports, Finn’s journey perfectly demonstrated the important role the scholarship program continues to play in supporting Tasmania’s next generation of artists.
The 2027 Clarence Jazz Festival will be held in February 2027 at Rosny Farm.
