Homelessness Week will be marked across Tasmania and the rest of Australia from 3-9 August 2026. The message, “Homelessness Action Now,” is about the urgent need to take real, coordinated action to address the housing and homelessness crisis.

Hosted annually by Homelessness Australia, Homelessness Week builds community support and government commitment to end homelessness. Throughout the week, homelessness services and community groups raise awareness of the impacts of homelessness, advocate for change, and promote solutions through community events, media, and social media activities.

In Tasmania, Shelter Tas continues its work with the theme “Housing Ends Homelessness,” highlighting the fundamental role that secure, affordable housing plays in ending homelessness. We are proud to be partnering with Shelter Tas to support this important week of awareness and advocacy.

Richmond Bridge and Clarence Council Chambers (38 Bligh Street Rosny Park) will be lit in purple for the week as part of the Light up Tasmania awareness raising campaign. You can view the interactive map here for all participating sites.
