City of Clarence has been having ongoing discussions with Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) regarding their proposal to locate it’s ‘home of football’ at Wentworth Park Sports Ground, however their plans have not been endorsed by Council and no approval has been given to build the facility.
Officers have been working with FFT and have had discussions with the current users of the sports grounds. At this stage however, FFT’s plans are purely conceptional.
At this stage they have not conducted, or worked with us to conduct, community engagement to understand public sentiment on their proposal, or resolved outcomes for any displaced user groups. Both of these things must take place before any decision on the proposal is considered.
No decision, formal or informal, has been made by City of Clarence on FFT’s use of Wentworth Park Sports Ground.
We are looking at the future of Wentworth Park Sports Grounds through our own Sports Facilities Strategic Plan and Open Space Strategy.
