The results from our Bayview Park community engagement, held between 8 September to 6 October this year, are now available.

Bayview Park, in Lauderdale, is receiving an upgrade with a new playground, shelter and picnic facilities.

Our engagement sought ideas for inclusive play, views on the kayak wash-down location, the change room, and overall support for the concept plans.

A survey placed on the Your Say Bayview Park Upgrades page received 206 responses, with most participants living in Lauderdale or surrounding suburbs.

The feedback showed strong support for the overall designs, identified clear priorities for the upgrade, and will be used to inform future delivery of the new park.

The community told us that the main reason people visit the park is to use the play equipment and park facilities, including toilets, barbecue and picnic areas, and for visiting the beach.

The park is used by children of many age groups, highlighting need to provide inclusive play features and equipment for a variety of users.

The community valued improved mobility across the park, particularly for prams and wheelchairs, clear sightlines across the park and its facilities, and safety and accessibility.

Views were split on car parking and increased green space.

Views regarding the kayak washdown station indicated acceptance of a relocation, provided the facility remained functional and accessible.

A detailed plan considering the feedback and insights will now be prepared.
