Richmond Bridge, Bridge Street, Richmond TAS, Australia
Richmond Bridge c1823, originally named Bigges Bridge, is Australia’s oldest bridge still in use.
It was built by convicts from sandstone quarried at Butchers Hill and hauled by hand cart to the bridge site.
Richmond Bridge is one of many interesting and historic sites to visit as part of the Richmond Heritage Walk.
There are a number of interpretation panels situated in the village of Richmond for visitors to learn more about its history.
