Howrah Beach, Tasmania, Australia

The beach is usually sheltered from southern ocean swells by the South Arm Peninsula and Bruny Island but can be exposed to swells during stormy weather.

There are spectacular views from the beach of the Derwent Estuary and surrounds, from South Arm and Bruny Island in the south, to Hobart and Mount Wellington in the west.

Howrah Beach can be accessed at several locations, including off Silwood Avenue, from Wentworth Park and Wentworth Park Play Park.

Warning: All coastal waters can be unpredictable and dangerous. It is recommended that you check water and weather conditions before entering the water. For more information on beach safety, visit beachsafe.org.au
