Rosny Parklands is a public outdoor space spread across 18 hectares, featuring multiple green areas, a variety of trees and a walking path.
Once home to the Rosny Golf Course, which closed in 2021, the parklands are now an open, grassy area where people can escape into nature.
Two formal entrances exist, one at Rosny Farm and another at Gordons Hill Road. Both are connected by the Kangaroo Bay Rivulet Track (completed in 2017).
The City of Clarence Council Chambers, Eastlands, the commercial hub of Rosny, Rosny College and Charles Hand Memorial Park, are all within walking distance of the parklands.
Dogs are on lead.
We’re building a new track in Rosny Parklands
Rosny Parklands play a key role in the City Heart Plan. During community consultation, residents expressed strong support for improving access to open spaces and natural areas through more trails and pathways. In response, a new circuit track is proposed.
FAQ’s
What kind of track is being built?
A 2.5 metre wide crushed gravel track, like the one already there. The track will follow the grassy footpad around the parklands and will be a 1.7 kilometre circuit. Three laps equals 5 kilometres of exercise.
Will any trees be removed?
No. The track will sit in open grassy areas. High natural values will be protected. We’ll also rejuvenate the area next to the Tasman Highway by reducing weeds to help native plants to thrive
Will there be seating along the track?
Yes, Once the track is constructed, seats will be placed at several points around the circuit, positioned to take advantage of the views.
Will there be new entrances?
The entrances at Rosny Farm and Gordons Hill Road will be upgraded. Old fencing will be replaced with new bollards, plus fresh signage and landscaping.
Will the track be accessible?
Yes, but due to hilliness it will not comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. Disability Voices Tasmania will provide criteria to assess and rate tracks.
Who can use the tracks?
The tracks will be multi-use and suitable for walking, jogging, cycling and prams. The perfect place for a lunch break stroll or tree-escape from the city.
Will the track be impacted by future development?
The track alignment has been selected to minimise any future alterations. Any new developments will take the track into consideration.
