It’s time to talk about dementia, so we’re supporting the Dementia Walk for Change.
The walk aims to raise awareness about the things people can do to reduce their risk of dementia and shift the narrative around dementia from fear and stigma to empathy and inclusion.
Walking roughly 3 kilometres a day can reduce the risk of developing dementia by 25 per cent.
In Tasmania there are 11,200 people living with dementia, with the number expected to rise to 16,500 by 2054, so the need to start talking about dementia is greater than ever before.
Join the walk on Sunday, 27 September from 11am until 3pm at the Cornelian Bay Park, Queens Walk, New Town.
This walk is part of Dementia Action Week (21 – 27 September).
This event is also supported by City of Hobart, Glenorchy City Council, Kingborough Council, Sorell Council and Brighton Council.
