The tender, awarded to DCS Civil Tas, will include landscaping, lighting and stormwater. A rain garden will also be constructed to improve the quality of the stormwater discharge to Kangaroo Bay.

Construction of the promenade will extend the Clarence Foreshore Trail and link the existing pathway at Kangaroo Bay Parklands to Rosny College and the boat ramp at Rosny Park near the bowls club.

“The Kangaroo Bay Foreshore Promenade will improve accessibility and amenity for pedestrians and cyclists travelling between Bellerive Village and Rosny Hill,” Mayor of Clarence, Alderman Doug Chipman said.

“The promenade was identified in the Kangaroo Bay Urban Design Strategy and is another step in the re-activation of the area into a significant destination for recreation, tourism and business.”

Construction is expected to begin in July this year.

The first stages of the Kangaroo Bay Foreshore Promenade included the construction of a retractable bridge across the slipway near the Bellerive Yacht Club in 2010 and a multi-user pathway to Kangaroo Bay Parklands and the sports field completed earlier this year.

The tender for construction of the Kangaroo Bay Foreshore Promenade was awarded to DCS Civil Tas.
