SEVERE WEATHER WARNING – REGULAR UPDATES
As you may be aware, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a weather warning for heavy rainfall and damaging winds, starting from late Thursday 5 May and progressing into Friday 6 May.
Council is working hard to do everything possible to prepare and encourages community members to do the same.
Tasmania SES has provided some great tips below on what you can do to prepare your property.

We will be doing our best to update this post regularly throughout the day, as well as our webpage, as information becomes available.
Current warnings (9.30AM):
- Flood warning for the Coal River. bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDT20615.html.
- Road closure at the Cambridge Road and Rosny Hill Road Intersection, near Eastlands.
- Road closure at Pass Road, Cambridge between Meehan Road and Cambridge Road.
- Tasman Highway Rose Bay – Slip Lane Underpass (open but use extreme caution).
- Tea Tree Road, Tea Tree, 1km East of the train tracks (open but use extreme caution).
- There is significant above ground water at Wentworth Park, Mortyn Place Park and Rosny College, please steer clear of these areas and do not enter the water.
- The Bellerive Beach pontoon has broken its mooring and washed up on the beach, we ask that people please steer clear of the pontoon while we work to make the area safe.

- There is significant above ground water and contamination at Wentworth Park, Mortyn Place Park and Rosny College, these areas will remain closed over the weekend and will be reassessed on Monday, please steer clear of these areas and do not enter the water.

WEEKEND PARK CLOSURES
We would like to advise that due to the heavy rainfall experienced today and overnight, Wentworth Park Playpark, a section of the Clarence Foreshore Trail (between the Howrah Community Centre and the Silwood Avenue entrance), Mortyn Place Park and Rosny College (grounds between Kangaroo Bay Skate Park and Rosny Hill Road) will remain closed over the weekend.
Signage is in place in these areas and the closures will be reassessed by council on Monday.
We ask that people please keep clear of these areas, take care and follow all signage.
UPDATE – PARK CLOSURES (Monday 9 May, 2.41pm)
Please see below update to park and trail closures following the recent heavy rain.
NOW OPEN:
✅Mortyn Place Park.
✅Clarence Foreshore Trail (between Howrah Community Centre and Silwood Avenue entrance).
✅Rosny College/Charles Hand Park.
CLOSED:
❌Wentworth Play Park (including the public toilets)
Council officers are now in the process of removing signage and barricading.
