The project aims to provide consistent traffic lane widths, upgraded line markings, re-positioning and upgrading of bus stops and improved pedestrian crossing facilities for the length of Clarence Street from Cambridge Road to Howrah Road.

The first stage of the project focuses on the section of Clarence Street between Cambridge Road and Wentworth Street. The works include new line markings, improvements to traffic islands and pedestrian refuges, and relocation of some bus stops to improve safety.

Stage one works are expected to commence by the end of July 2019 and conclude by the end of September 2019, weather permitting.

A detailed plan of the stage one works is available below.

The works are entirely confined to the road reserve and there are no direct impacts on private property. There will be some localised changes to on street parking associated with bus stop relocations and pedestrian crossings.
