Safety audits undertaken on all skate parks across the City of Clarence have resulted in skate parks in Richmond and Rokeby being closed, effective immediately.

Findings provided by a specialty contractor, engaged by council to audit the eight municipal skate parks, revealed urgent action is needed at both the Richmond and Rokeby sites.

This action has been taken to ensure the safety of our community which is always a top priority for council.

Council is removing the steel skate park elements from the Richmond skate park and will work with the Richmond Advisory Committee and the community in considering replacement of the skate park as part of future upgrades to Richmond Reserve.

The Rokeby skate park has been closed temporarily, while council organises urgent repairs/maintenance and will be reopened as soon as possible.

Clarence City Council remains dedicated to the safety and well-being of the community. By taking decisive action to address the safety concerns identified in the skate parks, we will provide residents and visitors with improved recreational facilities to promote both fun and safety.

We appreciate the community’s understanding throughout this process and look forward to delivering enhanced skate park experiences for all.
