Clarence City Council has launched a new website to improve the delivery of a wide range of information on services, news and events.

The much-needed project represents nearly twelve months of work by Council staff who have worked closely with developers to build a website that is easy to navigate, responsive on a variety of devices and provides useful information in a simple and clear format.

Key features of the new website include:

  • Top viewed content is easily accessed, featured forefront and centre on the home page via quick link buttons;
  • There are multiple options to navigate the site by using the mega menu that appears when you click on a main menu topic or the comprehensive search function to navigating through the A-Z listing of content;
  • Waste calendars now appear in a responsive format that can be accessed on any device;
  • Users can submit issues and concerns through an online form called Report an Issue;
  • Font size can be enlarged and Google translation can be utilised for Chinese, German, Greek, Nepali and Spanish, the top spoken languages in Clarence outside of English; and
  • Community events can be sent in to be added to the events calendar.

A further feature, ‘My Neighbourhood’, will be launched in early to mid December and will give users the ability to search Clarence-wide or by suburb for a variety of features in the city including parks, trails, dog exercise areas, beaches, barbecue areas and toilets.

Mayor of Clarence, Alderman Doug Chipman said that the new website provides a much needed improvement on the display of web-based council information.

“The redevelopment of our website has significantly improved the accessibility of our online information with the site designed for both computers and mobile devices,” said Mayor Chipman.

“It provides a balance of useful information and highlights of why Clarence is such a great place to live. We hope that users find the website welcoming and helpful.”

The website URL is still www.ccc.tas.gov.au.

Council welcomes feedback on the new website so that it can continue to work towards delivering a product that meets community needs. To share your thoughts, email clarence@ccc.tas.gov.au.
