‘Springhaven lifestyle village’ will occupy the vacant land that previously formed part of the Rosny golf course, opposite Fairway Rise lifestyle village.
The new lifestyle village will be owned and operated by Southern Cross Care who also run Fairway Rise, but will operate separately.
The development is expected to cost $25 million to complete, with works anticipated to start by the end of the year.
The facility, set in landscaped gardens, will include 84 independent living units with a mix of stand-alone villas and conjoined duplex units. The facility will also include a community building to provide social activities, low impact sports, bar, dining and library for residents.
The development will be accessed from Gordons Hill Road via a new roundabout which will also replace the existing access arrangements for Fairway Rise. The changes to Gordons Hill Road will also provide for pedestrian crossing refuges and bus stop laybys in both directions.
Acting Mayor Jock Campbell said the Council was pleased to support a development that addresses the city’s ageing population needs.
“With Fairway Rise currently having a significant number of requests for accommodation on their waitlist, this development is necessary and will provide more housing options for older people,” Acting Mayor, Alderman Jock Campbell said.
“The location of the lifestyle village, so close to the amenities of Rosny Park, aligns with Council’s strategic priority to further grow the age friendliness of our city.”
