The Dog Control Act 2000 is currently being reviewed by the state government.

Proposed amendments being reviewed include:

  • The provision for greyhounds to be exercised in declared off-lead areas in the same manner as other dog breeds (except for dangerous dogs and restricted breeds); and
  • To provide that greyhounds are under effective control when off-lead on any private premises so long as they are securely confined to those premises.

If the Dog Control Act 2000 is amended, Clarence City Council will review its current Dog Management Policy to ensure it remains compliant with the Dog Control Act 2000.
