Clarence City Council will provide $14,750 to 10 community groups and organisations to assist with delivering a diverse range of projects in Clarence.

The South Arm Primary School Association (auspiced by the South Arm Peninsula Residents Association) and the Second Bite Partnership will both receive $1,500 towards delivering projects in the community.

South Arm Primary School Association will use the grant for ‘South Arm – A history in the making’ project. The project will help investigate children’s place in the evolving history of the South Arm Peninsula. It will include children working with the wider South Arm community to share and document memories of life on the peninsula, a workshop with a renowned children’s author and illustrator to help the children gather and write stories that will culminate in a book about life in South Arm.

Second Bite Partnership will use the money to help with the purchase of seed, irrigation equipment and hand tools to grow fresh fruit and vegetables for emergency food relief and distribution to community food programs within Clarence. SecondBite will partner with the Tasmania Prison Service who grow and harvest the produce, and the Christian Family Centre who will provide the land to grow the fruit and vegetables at no cost.
