The 6.407 hectare site, which fronts both Pass Road and Rokeby Road, has been identified for commercial development and will include six lots plus a road.
The subdivision will be staged from east to west and involve the construction of a slip lane from Rokeby Road through to Pass Road via a connection to Hance Road.
The new road network will provide frontage to the newly created commercial lots and represents a significant step towards the implementation of Council’s Activity Centre Strategy.
Under the planning scheme, it is envisaged that the new centre will include the development of a supermarket, supporting specialty shops and associated services. However, future development will require the submission of further applications.
The report was approved at the meeting on 23 May and can be found on Council’s website at www.ccc.tas.gov.au/agendas.
