Application for Concession
Rates Remission 2022/23
Concession cards eligible for a remission:
- Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Health Care Card (a current Australian Government HCC)
- Department of Veterans Affairs ‘Gold Card’ endorsed with TPI or War Widow
The applicant must be liable to pay rates on the property and be the card holder’s principal place of residence. In the case of joint ownership, at least one title owner must meet the eligibility criteria. There is a limit of one remission per financial year, per pensioner household.
Any pensioner who has not previously received a remission should have one of the above Concession Cards dated on or before 1 July 2022. You can apply anytime from July 2022 and before 31 March 2023. You will need to complete the online remission application form below. You are required to upload a copy of your current concession card with this application. Please do not print out the application form below to manually complete. If you are unable to use the online application, please visit the council chambers.
An Australian Government Seniors Health Care Card does not qualify the cardholder for a rates remission.
Ratepayers who received a remission last financial year should automatically receive a remission this year. Please check this on your Annual Rate Notice for 2022/2023 which you will receive in the month of July.
Please note: these rebate provisions are detailed under the Local Government (Rates and Charges Remissions) Act 1991 (Tas). The eligibility of a pensioner remission is determined by the state government’s Department of Treasury and Finance.
