M.I.Q. play acid jazz, a funk-jazz style that developed from the British jazz scene of the 1990s (think Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai and Australia's Directions in Groove).
The group compose and perform original contemporary jazz with considerable influence from artists such as Miles Davis, Simply Red, Herbie Hancock, and the Brecker Brothers, whose style is informed by both rock and jazz.
The M.I.Q. style is accessible and attracts an audience wanting to groove.
