Clarence City Council is pleased to recognise those individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the community.

Awards were presented on Australia Day, 2009:

Citizen of the Year - Mrs Elizabeth CloudsdaleElizabeth Cloudsdale has been a volunteer for many years for many community organisations, particularly since her retirement. She studied Auslan to better represent deaf students on the Representative Committee and introduced Operation Christmas Child as a highly successful and on-going charity program run by the Student Representative Council.

Community Event of the Year - Shannons Car and Bike ExpoCommunity Event of the Year - Shannons Car and Bike Expo

The Shannon's Car and Bike Expo is a partnership between Shannons Insurance, local car clubs, local business, the Rotary Club of Lindisfarne and the Clarence City Council.

It is the biggest expo of its type in Tasmania, attracting 620 entries from Tasmania and interstate, plus 18 trade stalls and estimated 5,000 spectators. 2008 saw the creation of a children's area.

This local idea is now being emulated by other states around Australia.
