The Spirit of Clarence traces the development of the newly created City of Clarence from its earliest exploration, discovery and White Settlement.
The rigours of the early settlement, the exciting years of whaling and the close link with the River Derwent are outlined in this colourful collection of anecdotes about the early days of the City of Clarence.
Based on a manuscript and selected articles written by the late WT (Bill Davenport with significant contributions from B F (Bernie) Denholm, the late W (Bill) Neilson and the late Dr R W Halliday.
