Bay to beach pathway to be completed

2 November 2009

The Clarence foreshore trail between Kangaroo Bay and Bellerive Beach will soon be complete.

The Clarence foreshore trail between Kangaroo Bay and Bellerive Beach will soon be complete, with construction of a pathway along Victoria Esplanade to commence in November.

Clarence Mayor Jock Campbell said that completion of the multi-use path from Gunning Street to Queen Street meant that pedestrians, cyclists, skaters and wheelchairs will all be able to enjoy the foreshore scenery this summer.

"With some of the most beautiful scenic views in Hobart, the Clarence foreshore trail is very popular for family leisure outings, and Council is very pleased that this pathway will be completed in time for summer," Alderman Campbell said.

Completion of a shared pathway along Victoria Esplanade was identified as critical to the development of cycling in Clarence by the Clarence Bicycle Advisory Committee, and contributes to Council's objective to increase opportunities for everyone in the community to participate in recreational activities.

The Victoria Esplanade works will also involve traffic management measures to change a section of Victoria Esplanade to one-way traffic.
