Shops and services
The commercial and civic hub of the City of Clarence is located at Rosny Park.
The Eastlands Shopping Centre at Rosny Park is Tasmania's largest with over 100 stores and 1445 free car parking spaces. Recent redevelopment works at Eastlands include building extensions, shopping mall upgrade, construction of a multi-cinema complex, car park expansion, and a new southern entrance to the centre.
Other business activity at Rosny Park includes the national Woolworths Transaction Centre, a thriving business and financial services sector, various professional offices and a cluster of major fast food outlets.
Government services located there include the Clarence City Council Chambers and Administration Offices, a Service Tasmania Shop, Centrelink Customer Service Centre, Eastern District Tasmania Police Headquarters, a Housing Tasmania Service Centre, Rosny Library, Clarence Community Health Centre, the Workplace Standards Office, and Mineral Resources Tasmania.
"Big box" retail services are provided at Tasmania's first major homemaker centre located at Cambridge near the Hobart Airport.
Harvey Norman is the key anchor tenant in the centre, supported by other national stores including furniture, hardware, homeware, leisure/sport, and electrical outlets. The new homemaker centre has approximately 39,000 square metres of bulky goods retail space and parking for 950 vehicles.
The homemaker centre is part of "The Cambridge Centre", a master planned retail, commercial and industrial precinct.
Other commercial centres include the Shoreline Shopping Centre located at Howrah, which contains a large refurbished supermarket and 25 other shops and services, and a number of local shopping precincts including Bellerive Village, Lindisfarne Village and Rokeby which cater for local residents. Most suburbs have milk bars, newsagents and video outlets.
