The City of Clarence is serviced by an extensive range of private and public transport systems, including those listed below:


Hobart International AirportLocated in the City of Clarence is Hobart International Airport, the major domestic and international gateway to Tasmania for commercial aircraft. It is situated at Cambridge just 12 kilometres east of the Clarence central business district and 17 kilometres from central Hobart via the Tasman Highway. The airport has both domestic and international terminal complexes.

Flight travel times are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to Melbourne and 1 hour 50 minutes to Sydney.

Also located at Cambridge is the Cambridge Airport which provides a base for regional Tasmanian air services and scenic flights.

Services from Cambridge connect to King Island, Wynyard, Burnie, Devonport, Flinders Island, as well as Launceston and Victoria. Scenic flights to Tasmania's South West wilderness are popular with visitors and bushwalking services are available.



Extensive metropolitan bus services are provided by Metro Tasmania. Metro bus services extend to all suburbs and localities in the City of Clarence, with the exception of the Richmond and Coal River Valley area. Tassielink Coaches provide a service between Hobart and Campania, stopping at Eastlands, Cambridge, Cambridge Park, Dulcot and Richmond.

The Rosny Park transit mall adjacent to the Eastlands Shopping Centre is the key interchange and departure point for Eastern Shore services.

The City of Clarence is served by a road transport network comprising primary arterial, secondary arterial, sub-arterial roads and town streets.

The dual carriageway Tasman Highway traverses the city from east to west, and the East Derwent Highway and South Arm Road north to south.

Responsibility for the road and bridge network rests with the State Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (DIER) in relation to primary and secondary arterial roads and the Clarence City Council (CCC) for sub-arterial and local roads and streets - see road network map.

The Clarence City Council component comprises 345 kms of sealed road and 67 kms of unsealed road, totalling 412 kms.

Taxi transport is readily available through a number of service providers.

Taxi stands operate at the Eastands Shopping Centre and Hobart Airport.
