Clarence City Council resolved at a meeting on Monday, 25 June to reject the construction of an entrance/exit gate from the Bellerive Oval onto the Bellerive Beach Park.

Council made this decision based on the results of the community consultation on the Draft Master Plan for Bellerive Beach Park where concern had been expressed about the possible impacts of an entrance/exit from the Oval to the Park.

Mayor Chipman said that while this access point had been ruled out, Council will continue to work with the Board of Cricket Tasmania and the local community to facilitate the further development of the oval for Clarence, user-groups and all Tasmanians.

“Council further decided to conduct a workshop for Aldermen to consider other elements of the Bellerive Beach Park Draft Master Plan including play equipment and pathways.
