Our City

The Clarence City Council is the second largest local government area in Tasmania by population. The region is surrounded by 191 kilometres of coastline and supports a variety of residential options from city living to rural and coastal living and has a population of around 55,000. Climate

Clarence has a mild maritime climate. The eastern shore of the Derwent River is recognised as being consistently warmer than the Western Shore.

 

Environment

More than one third of the area of Clarence is natural bushland. Clarence City Council and the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment work in partnership to manage reserve land, wildlife, research and cultural heritage within the City.  

 

The Clarence City Council offers an enviable lifestyle, has a strong commercial and business sector and is the gateway for many visitors to Southern Tasmania.
