Re-zoning of land at Gordons HIll Road in Lindisfarne reaches next stage

The Council has resolved to rezone land at 38 Gordons Hill Road in Lindisfarne following public exhibition of the planning scheme amendment in October this year.

The re-zoning proposal will now be forwarded to the Tasmanian Planning Commission for final approval.

Rezoning of the land will provide an opportunity for an application to be made for the construction of a retirement village. Council believes this will help to fill an important gap in the housing segment for older residents of the city.

The 5.15 hectare vacant lot was previously part of the 18 hole Rosny Public Golf Course which was re-designed to a nine hole course on the southern side of the Tasman Highway more than 15 years ago. The land opposite 38 Gordons Road was rezoned in 2008 and developed into the Fairway Rise Retirement Village.
