Wentworth Park Sports Complex change rooms to be upgraded

Clarence City Council has awarded a tender of $884,000 for the construction of replacement change rooms at Wentworth Park Sports Complex in Howrah.

The new change rooms will deliver modern facilities with improved accessibility to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. The design of the change rooms will be similar to the recently built change rooms at Richmond Oval.

Sporting groups that use the Wentworth Park Sports Complex were consulted on the project.

The Wentworth Park Sports Complex was hit by a major wind storm in 2014 which resulted in damage to the existing rooms including the roof sheeting being blown off. A structural check of the roof was later carried out which identified some structural inadequacies that would require a significant amount of work to meet current building standards. As a result, the existing change rooms will be demolished.

The works are scheduled to commence in early October this year and are expected to be completed by February 2016.
