The 2015 Seafarers’ Festival will soon hit our shores with live entertainment, visiting vessels, fine food, competitions and a treasure hunt. Best of all, it’s free.

The festival will be held at the Bellerive Boardwalk on Sunday 25 October from 10.30am to 4.00pm.

This year’s festival coincides with National Discover Sailing Day which will mean plenty of chances to get out on the water and learn about sailing. Registrations can be completed on the day at the Bellerive Yacht Club. More information can be found at http://www.discoversailing.org.au/.

Clarence Acting Mayor, Alderman Jock Campbell, said the Seafarers’ Festival has become one of the signature events in Clarence and this year’s program has something for everyone.

“The Seafarers’ Festival includes many hands on activities scattered about on the Boardwalk, a daring aerial rescue demonstration and a number of stalls with maritime and historic information,” Alderman Campbell said.

“The costume competition will be held again with some excellent prizes on offer, as well as the popular treasure hunt to keep everyone guessing. There will be fine food and a terrific line up of music, dance and theatre for all ages to enjoy.”

Entertainment includes Lagoon Hill Zydeco, Tasmania’s Highland Dancers, the Tasmanian Royal Australian Navy Bank, and Makebelieve Entertainment’s ‘My Mummy is a Mermaid’, to get the young ones laughing and singing along. MC favourites Colin Dean and Andrew Colrain return after a two year absence to bring the whole program together.

The full program can be found on the Clarence Arts and Events website: http://www.clarenceartsandevents.net/.
