The City of Clarence is recognised as an Age Friendly City and Community by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Global network in 2014.

The title of an Age Friendly City and Community recognises Clarence’s work during the past 10 years to involve and cater for older residents through the delivery and ongoing improvement across eight domains identified in the WHO Age-Friendly Cites Guide:


Age Friendly Clarence Plan 2018-2022

Council adopted an Age Friendly Clarence Plan 2018-2022 on 18 June 2018.

The plan provides strategic direction for Council to meet the needs and aspirations of an ageing population.

This plan builds on Council’s Positive Ageing Plan 2012-2016 and our commitment to being an age friendly city and community.

Positive Ageing Advisory Committee 

Clarence City Council’s Positive Ageing Advisory Committee (CPAAC) was established in October 2008. The aim of the committee is to implement Council's Age Friendly Clarence Plan 2018-2022.

Age Friendly Projects in the City

There are many programs in Clarence to meet the needs and aspirations of our ageing population. Council is proud of the partnerships it has established with community organisations to establish programs activities benefit the Clarence community.

Alma's Activities Centre

Alma’s Activities Centre offers a range of activities and programs, facilities for hire, and the communal area called Alma’s Bar and Lounge.

Alma’s Activities Centre is located at Alma Street in Bellerive. The building is currently undergoing a redevelopment to become a more accessible and inclusive space.
