Age-Friendly City

In February 2014 the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities named the City of Clarence as an Age-friendly City.

The Age-friendly City title recognises Clarence’s efforts over the last 10 years to involve and cater for older residents through the provision of and ongoing improvement across eight domains identified in the WHO Age-Friendly Cites Guide:

Council met the four stage criteria of the WHO Network by having an ongoing commitment to a cycle of continually assessing and improving our age−friendliness through: Planning, Implementation, Progress Evaluation, and Continual Improvement.

The WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities was established to foster the exchange of experience and mutual learning between cities and communities worldwide. It provides a global platform for information exchange, mutual support through the sharing of experience and will help keep Clarence looking for new ways to support our ageing population.

This website has been created to share information about the growing age friendly cities and communities movement across the world.   We wish to provide a vibrant global platform for information exchange and learning and meeting place for members of the WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

The Global Network section of this site introduces the cities and communities working towards becoming more age friendly, and the affiliated programs and networks which support them in doing so.  You can contact each Network member for more information on their work through the contact forms on their individual profile pages.
